What does Word to PDF do?
Word to PDF converts a DOCX file in the browser into a PDF. Supported text, inline images and basic tables are kept. Floating objects, complex fields, unavailable fonts and exact pagination may be simplified or lost. The browser-rendered document is rasterized into PDF pages, so the PDF is not an editable Word file. DOC binary files are unsupported.
How to use Word to PDF
- 1Choose a DOCX file
Open Word to PDF and select a .docx file. Legacy DOC binary files are unsupported. Save those as DOCX in desktop Word first.
- 2Convert with automatic browser conversion
There is no extra theme control. The DOCX is rendered in the browser, then rasterized into PDF pages.
- 3Download the PDF
Check headings, tables, images and page breaks. Complex Word layouts may be simplified compared with Microsoft Word.
- 4Fix the source if a page looks wrong
Simplify floating objects and uncommon fonts in the DOCX, then convert again. Use PDF to Word only when you already have a PDF.

When not to use this tool
Do not use Word to PDF to open .doc files, to keep tracked changes as comments, or to produce an editable PDF text layer. If the source is already a PDF, use PDF to Word the other way only with the limits stated on that page.
If processing fails
A DOC file is rejected. If conversion yields a nearly empty PDF, the DOCX may use unsupported objects — save a simpler copy in Word and retry. Missing fonts change appearance; embed or replace them in the DOCX first.
Privacy boundary
The DOCX is read and rendered in this browser. It is not sent to a PDF Smart Kit application server. Close the page to clear the file from memory.
