What does Redact PDF do?
Redact PDF permanently covers selected rectangles on a PDF page and exports a new file. You choose the page, rectangle position and size, and redaction color. Content outside selected redaction regions and page order are kept. All visible content intersecting a redaction region is lost in the output. Redactions are permanent in the output and require visual review. One PDF is accepted per task.
How to use Redact PDF
- 1Choose one PDF
Open Redact PDF and select a single file. Unlock it first if needed. Mark at least one area before you run the task.
- 2Draw redaction regions
Set the page, rectangle position and size, and redaction color. Add every region that must be removed from view. Regions outside the page are rejected.
- 3Apply redactions locally
The output writes those covers into the new PDF. Content inside applied redaction regions is not recoverable from that output. Page order stays the same.
- 4Inspect every page
Download and zoom into each mark. Hiding content only in a viewer is not the same as this export. If a region missed a descender or a second copy of the string, add another rectangle and run again from the source.

When not to use this tool
Do not use Redact PDF as a highlight tool, as a reversible crop, or as a guarantee that hidden metadata, attachments or unseen copies of a string are gone. Crop PDF changes page boxes; it does not black out secrets.
If processing fails
If no region is marked, the task is rejected. Rectangles that fall outside the document are rejected. Encrypted files must be unlocked first. Always review the output; a missed mark means you should redact the source again.
Privacy boundary
The PDF and redaction rectangles stay in this browser. The redacted file is not uploaded to a PDF Smart Kit application server. Close the page after you download the result you intend to share.
