Optimize PDF
What does Repair PDF do?
Repair PDF rebuilds recoverable PDF structures in the browser so a readable document can be exported again. Recoverable pages and objects are copied into a clean file. Objects already missing or corrupted beyond recovery, and unsupported encryption features, cannot be restored. Repair cannot recreate content absent from the source. One PDF is accepted per task.
How to use Repair PDF
- 1Choose one damaged PDF
Open Repair PDF and select a single file the browser can at least partially parse. Encrypted files usually need Unlock PDF first.
- 2Run the structural rebuild
The tool uses an automatic structural rebuild. There is no manual object picker. Pages that can be copied are written into a new document.
- 3Export the reconstructed file
Download the repaired PDF and open it in a reader. Compare page count with what you expected from the source.
- 4Handle leftover problems
If a page still fails, that object may be beyond recovery. Keep any backup. OCR or rewrite may still be needed for scans inside a broken wrapper.
Supported files and limits
- Output format: PDF
- Input: PDF
- Output options: automatic structural rebuild
- one PDF per task; cannot recreate content absent from the source
- Files stay on this device and are removed when you close the page.
One PDF is accepted per task. Repair cannot recreate content absent from the source. Unsupported encryption features are not removed here.
What the output keeps
- recoverable pages and objects
Recoverable pages and objects are retained in the rebuilt file when the parser can copy them.
What may change or be lost
- objects already missing or corrupted beyond recovery
- unsupported encryption features
Objects already missing or corrupted beyond recovery are omitted. Unsupported encryption features are not repaired by this tool.
When not to use this tool
Do not use Repair PDF as a substitute for Unlock PDF, as a way to recover a file that was never a PDF, or as a promise that every page will return. It cannot invent missing text or images.
If processing fails
If the document structure is unreadable, reconstruction fails with an error. If the file opens but a later page cannot be copied, the task stops rather than silently dropping that page without notice. Encrypted files should be unlocked first when a password is the blocker.
Privacy boundary
The damaged PDF is read locally. The reconstructed bytes stay in this browser until you download them or close the page. Nothing is sent to a PDF Smart Kit application server for recovery.
